"Where history comes to life"

Join Up!

We are always open to new members, so why not come and join one of Scotland's leading living history groups!

General information:

You must be over 16 years old to join, and 18 to attend overnight events and handle firearms.
We attend a wide variety of events throughout the year, but there is no requirement to attend all events.
Members purchase all their own uniform and equipment, however we do have some spare kit to allow new members portraying soldiers to try it out when they first join. We will also provide a detailed kit list and assist new members with acquiring historically accurate kit.

For soldiers, the basic first uniform to acquire is that of a private of the 2nd Royal Scots in 1914. This consists of:
A glengarry ( blue with red, white and green dicing, and a leather headband, with a Royal Scots cap badge and green badge backing)
Service Dress Jacket (with Royal Scots shoulder titles)
Service Dress Trousers
Puttees
B5 or B2 boots
1908 Webbing belt.

We pride ourselves on historical accuracy, and as a result most members carry out in depth research into their roles, however there is no requirement to be a historian. The society is made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, including professional and amateur historians, students, teachers, soldiers, and many others.
